Focus on Vision is a foundation that aims to bring the joy of proper eyesight to the world. More than a billion people have poor vision that can simply be solved by wearing eyeglasses.
Since its start in 2004 more than half a million children and adults have been provided with spectacles. Since 2018 we concentrate on Low Vision patients: children and adults with extreme refractive errors. In Tanzania our optometrist Lillian Mujemula followed dedicated education in India (Sight Savers) and the Netherlands (Bartimeus Blind Institute). Together with Light for the World and Sight Savers we concentrate on patients with albinism and children. Since 2020 we have a clinic in Morogoro, Tanzania. People suffering from Low Vision have extreme refractive errors which can be -20 dpt or + 22 dpt or worse. Specialist knowledge and experience is necessary to make their lives more bearable. At the moment Lillian is following a specialist course of Pediatric Low Vision at CCBRT at Dar es Salaam.
The corona pandemic caused our project in Ghana to come to a standstill.
The production facilities of adjustable spectacles has been transferred to a Nigerian party to principally cater for local needs. Since 2004 Focus on Vision has considerably contributed to lower prices for spectacles at large. Look at initiatives like Specsavers, Charlie Temple etc.

We are always looking for funds to support our work and help us in creating the best possible solution for bringing the joy of proper eyesight to the world. Vision is more than just ‘being able to see’. It enables people to learn, gain a living, to develop themselves and really, to enjoy life. Warmly recommended!
